"Dual Citizenship" for the Haitian Diaspora - message from LKernisant@aol.com

To all Haitian-Americans,

The 49th legislative body of the Haitian Government has just ratified the "Dual Citizenship" law making all of us, formerly known as Haitian expatriates, bona fide Haitians with all the rights and privileges afforded to the Haitian citizenry, including the right to run for political offices. Here is the official press release, just off the press:
DE L' ASSEMBLEE NATIONALE: La multiple nationalite vient d' etre admise en Haiti par la 49 e legislature avec la supression en bloc des articles ( de la constitution de '87). 12. 1, 12.2, 13 14 et 15 (ce dernier qui se lisait comme suit "La double Nationalité Haïtienne et Etrangère n'est admise dans aucun cas). Votes: 84 pour, 2 contre, 4 abstentions.

Un pas historique dans les relations Haiti-Diaspora.

Alas, our voices for change have been heard and our wish has finally become a palpable reality. It is now our turn to share with our motherland our talents, our "know-how", the greatest available resources from which she can thrive on for a sustainable development. We are indeed the ripest fruits of Haiti's huge historical tree. Let's together pollinate its vast fertile landscape for a bountiful harvest we can ultimately share in the future.

Haiti MPHISE Cite Soleil, La Saline Medical update: May 2-4th.

Per Aleda Frishman, We Advance, Haiti Director

Hundreds seen at Clinic over the last two days. Patients are very sick from drinking contaminated water, as heat swelters.  Even though the UN offers subsidised water truck, the trucks will only go to Cite Soleil if they are paid.  Most of the patients symptons are vomiting and diarrhea.  They come in very sick and most say they began feeling sick after drinking water.

Most of the patients seen at the We Advance clinic were Diarrheal Disease Patients, and not Cholera.

The Cholera patients have been quarantined in Sister Marcella's Cholera staging area one block down the street.

This is the current situation.

Online Magazine Blog, Defend Haiti, calls out the UN,"UN Responsible for 5,000 Deaths, 300,000 Illnesses, Still Denying Blame"

The United Nations has published a report that builds a case against itself for the cholera outbreak that has killed 5,000 Haitians, but then, in a questionable reversal, exonerates its own self of the responsibility.

The panel of four experts compiled the report in a span of time that took 6 months. Most would agree that the facts contained in the report are not new but the efforts of the panel and the U.N. to downplay them is concerning.

Independent?

Upon the release of this report it was a questionable act in which the report had to pass through the hands of Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and then through the Haitian government before being made public.

This is questionable because an independent report, by competent experts, such as, Dr. Alejando Cravioto of the International Center for Diarrhoeal Diseas Research, should not need the approval of the likes of Ban Ki-Moon and President Rene Preval to be made public; especially if it is to be claimed independent.

75 Cholera Cases Reported in La Saline, Cite Soleil, Clinic, April 24-27.
